My ex wife was a Mormon. The original preppers !! She stock piled all sorts of stuff !! She was ready to go 2 weeks ! She even had a $1,000 cash stashed ! 20 years later, I gotta fess up, a lot of her mentality has crept into my life !

If you close your eyes and listen to Joe Rogan talk you can picture and hear Kermit the Frog talking
Maybe there were too many redundant restaurants … it's a hard business during good times (add pandemic and stir). When I was a kid, we'd go out once a week, now people eat in restaurants or cafeterias almost every day. My parents were both good cooks – so meals were always amazing at home – mostly Eastern European meat dishes, sometimes we'd have game meat, other times vegetarian (esp. around Easter). Restaurants always disappointed my parents except for a very few. Our favorite was Yorkshire Fish & Chips in Westminster, Colorado – it's still there (been there for over 60 years now). You just don't want to make your house smell like a fish fry all the time 😀 My parents also had a decent sized garden so we pickled a lot and stored the jars in the root cellar. If there ever was a war – we would die of vinegar poisoning.
