Spoken like a true musician. every songwriter in the world knows that you don't wake up one day and say "i'm gonna write the biggest hit song in years" or "i'm gonna write a solid song today!", if you have the talent and are actively cultivating it then the good songs will come when they come, and sometimes seemingly at the most random or unexpected times. you can't plan it. I've never understood how bands go into the studio and spend a couple weeks writing a great album on command.
When the public enjoys something that a person creates, it's entertainment. I think you both were looking for that word.
