As someone in law enforcement there are screenings that take place but its not as hard to trick the system as she makes it seem. As long as your not blatantly racist or crazy most people will pass
There are good things here in the comments you could do and should be helpful in solving this structural problem as: better and prolonged training, thorough psychological screening and checks, bodycams and stricter action/penalties/punishments.
But what I think you should do or certainly seriously must explore and consider is come up with a working system which makes a police department self-correcting and self-cleaning. Cause I think that in the numerous cases where excessive and disproportionate violence is used by cops the caused harm could be way less would fellow cops acted and stepped in.
I've just started thinking about this and don't have all the right options and answers, so please think with me instead of immediately bashing it 🙂 but here's what you could do: set up a third party institution which audits every police department periodically. Set up the audits like candid camera tv shows were people get tested how they respond/react in public, as in there's a script where the "out of line cop" and suspect are the only ones in it and suspect being an actor of course. The fellow cops are being tested this way. Set up the right incentive system for everybody: reward or penalise the tested cops accordingly with a 3-step scale and three strikes you're out, fired! reward the "out of line" cop when he/she coöperates correctly or officially warn them when he/she doesn't coöperate and penalise when they try to corrupt this in any way.
A difficult part is how to rightfully check it isn't corrupted by the cop that needs to coöperate when telling or signalling their fellow cops, but hea I just wanted to throw this out here and see what people think.
Those “annual mental Heath checks” are bullshit . If you are active duty military, you would know that . The most important aspect is money , they’re not going to look to find something wrong with someone on the frontline . They need you on the frontline .🤷🏽♀️

You can’t prevent the inevitable. There are good and bad cops. racism in America will never go away it’s sad to say. if you are a black father or mother please warn your children about safety and how to avoid situations with police that could end up being fatal.
John Danaher said 'if you come here (Renzo's, sounds like a pizzeria), and you're a good person, BJJ will make you a better person. If you are a bad person, it'll make you worse'. So, now put that principle into the police, justice system, and politics. That's a scary thought.
